Andre Reid — Recovery Advocate and Trainer
For over a decade, I have worked tirelessly for the de-stigmatization and expansion of Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT). My lived experience, my authentic knowledge of the community and my wealth of resources give my work an uncommon value. In 2014, I created the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Alliance of Medication Assisted Recovery (NAMA) to advocate for the expansion of MAT for individuals whose lives were affected by the opioid epidemic. In 2019, I formed Lived Experience Consultants LLC to address the growing opioid epidemic in communities of color. This led to an awareness of the lack of equity in healthcare, the socio-economic needs and community support necessary to move underserved citizens of Philadelphia towards optimal health. This is my current mission to use my lived experience to address these underlying causes of the opioid crisis.
